The FDP's Annual Fund & Awareness Raising Events
Since it's conception in 2005, it has been the intention of the FDP to hold an annual event in Devonport Park to raise awareness and funds to go towards the ongoing restoration and maintenance of the park. Entry to these events has always been FREE to members of the public and we have been gratified at the large amount of support and attendence of both our events over the past 4 years.
The organisation of these events has been almost entirely due to the hard work and commitment of the "Events Committee" - a subcommittee of the FDP committee, led by Mr Mike Gallagher. Running of the events on the day has also been thanks largely to this committee, alongside other committee members and supportive volunteers from both members and non-members. Funding for these events has been gained through supportive sponsors and donors, both businesses and members of the public and the committee would like to say thank you to all those who have helped us over the past 4 years.
In 2008, we held 3 events: a "Music In The Park" event, which consisted of live music in a picnic setting; a "Summer Fun Day", which celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the park and a "Candlelit Xmas Sing-Along. In that year we also hosted the Annual Remembrance Day Service, supported by the Devonport Regeneration Community Partnership (DRCP). In 2009, we staged our fourth Annual Fun Day and it was estimated that between 4000 & 4500 people attended.
For highlights of the above, and previous events, follow the appropriate links above.
Due to reduced levels of sponsorship and donations, the date for the 2009 event has been put back to the 13th September. As sponsorship and donation levels currently stand, it is likely that this years event will be a more conservative affair than those previously. However, rest assured that it will still be a FREE entry fun-filled day for all the family to enjoy. Sponsorship and donations are however desperately needed for this event and those willing to help are asked to contact Mike Gallagher as soon as possible. Please remember, your time and / or expertise is as valuable to us as goods, prizes and funds and helping hands would be gratefully appreciated. More details of this years event will be posted on the 2009 events page as they become confirmed.
