The Friends of Devonport Park are a voluntary community group which has an elected committee, representative of the area surrounding Devonport Park, who alongside members of other community organisations and the Plymouth City Council (PCC), are working together with the ultimate goal of achieving the restoration of Devonport Park (see restoration project). Devonport Park is a beautiful victorian park, in use as such from the mid-1800's. It has seen many changes over the years, both in its general appearance and uses. Over the years, the park has seen a general decline in its maintenance and use and this was the main reason for the creation of the Friends of Devonport Park (FDP) community group in September 2005.

Thanks to our website, the FDP are making many new "friends" from all across the
globe. Melissa Thompson from Ontario in Canada, works for a real estate company
and found our site while surfing the net. She was impressed enough to ask if she
could add a link to our site from their own as she felt it would be of interest to
her clients. The following comments were received from her recently by email.
“ Thanks for letting me add your site to my directory. Your site will be a great
addition to the website and of great value to my users. Today I actually received
an email from one of my users about your site, it was very positive which reinforces
my initial thoughts about adding you”
Our new traditional bandstand (see our Bandstand page for more details) cannot be built until we have raised the funds for it. So far, we have only enough to build the base for it and need additional donations to raise enough funds to build the rest of it. Please remember that we are a completely voluntary group who are entirely dependent on donations in order to continue our work in our beautiful historic Devonport Park. So if youy want a new bandstand, the restoration of the park to continue, continuing publication of our newsletters or our annual events to continue, please please please donate to us. Even a £1 will help... To donate to the bandstand fund, click on the paypal donation link to the right or contact Mike Gallagher via email or telephone (01752 213308) or do the same just to donate.
